Tuition & Fees
Cancelled Lessons & Make-up Lessons
- Lesson rates for the 2024-25 academic year (September 1, 2024 to August 31, 2025) are as follows: 30 minutes = $35; 45 minutes = $52.50; 60 minutes = $70
- NEW - There is a $20 per family registration fee, due with the first invoice.
- Fees are due on the first of each month, in advance. An invoice will be sent before the due date. Payment may be made by e-transfer (preferred), cheque, or with exact cash (change is not available).
- Lesson and theory books procured by the teacher will be invoiced separately, and payment will be due upon receipt.
- Preferred method of communication is email, especially regarding cancelled lessons, or for less urgent matters.
- Time-sensitive matters (e.g. running late to lesson) may be texted to your teacher, and they will view it when they have a moment between students.
- More in-depth topics may require a phone call for discussion; in this case, please arrange via email a day and time for this phone call. During teaching hours, the teachers will be focused on their students and will not be available by phone (except in emergencies).
Cancelled Lessons & Make-up Lessons
- Lessons must be cancelled by contacting the teacher directly.
- Make-up lessons are not guaranteed.
- No refunds are given for missed lessons.
- NEW - Students who need to cancel a lesson - with a minimum of 24 hours notice - will be offered a maximum of THREE (3) make-up lessons per student per teaching year (Sept 1 to Aug 31).
- Students who miss a lesson with no notice at all (i.e. "no-shows") will forfeit that lesson; it will not be eligible for a make-up lesson.
- Teacher cancellations and weather-related cancellations will be offered as either online lessons or make-up lessons without penalty to the student; they will be prioritized when scheduling make-up lessons.
- NEW - With cancellations of less than 24 hours notice, or when the make-up lesson limit has already been reached, teachers may offer a short (5 to 10-minute) pre-recorded digital class. (This will review the student's current songs and challenges, and will help remind them what and how to practice during that week.)
- NEW - If a lesson is cancelled with enough advance notice, the lesson time may be gifted to another person (e.g. a friend/neighbour/sibling/parent), with no penalty to the student; i.e. this will not count as one of your three (3) make-up lessons.
- Make-up lesson times will either be offered at the end of the regular teaching year (mid to late June), or during the year on a first-come-first-served basis: when a spot becomes available, the teacher will email the studio with a link to the online calendar.
- In the event that make-up lessons are difficult to schedule in-person, the teacher reserves the right to deliver the make-up lesson online rather than in-person.
- No make-up lessons are carried forward from previous academic years; make-up lessons will expire on August 31 of a given year.
- If a student is more than 15 minutes late, the teacher is not obligated to wait. Lesson times cannot be extended for students who arrive late. Students should be picked up promptly at the end of their scheduled lesson.
- A minimum of one month's notice is required when a student discontinues lessons.
- If a student stops lessons mid-month, the rest of the month's prepaid tuition is forfeit and will be considered a cancellation fee. There are no refunds.
